Display Advertising: Everything You Need to Know to Get Started

By Michelle Brammer,April 29, 2016

Digital advertising commands large portions of ad spend, and it appears 2016 will be the breakout year when digital display ad spending finally surpasses search ad spend in the U.S. So, why does that matter? Well, if you’re only focusing on your search strategy and ignoring display, you’d be remiss to know your competitors are pulling ahead of you.

If your reasoning for not dipping your toes in display is lack of knowledge or fear of the unknown, knowing the basics will help.

How Marketers Use Behavioral Advertising to Stalk You

Stalking: to pursue or approach stealthily.

Creepy, yes. But to marketers it’s known simply as online behavioral advertising (OBA), or behavioral targeting. Simply put, it’s a technique used by online advertisers to show targeted ads to consumers. Information is collected about their browsing behavior, including the types of products they search, what websites they visit, when they visit, etc.

Welcome to Our Winter 2015 Interns

Welcome to Our Winter 2015 Interns

By Michelle Brammer,January 8, 2015

Resolutions are a funny thing. This time of year, many give it the good ole’ college try and commit to losing that last 15 (okay, 20) pounds, cut back on buying those cute shoes, or even go for that big promotion. We make resolutions, and sometimes break them. And it’s okay if you do too, we won’t judge you.

As we usher in a new class of interns for our first ever mini-internship, I encourage you to reach out to some of our past interns (here and here) and ask what their first day was like. I think some will say scary, others will say boring, and some might say awesome. But if you ask each of them what they wanted from their internship, they’ll tell you that they put their goals down on paper, too. And we discussed their goals - often - to make sure we were meeting their expectations.

So, today I do the same for you. Here are the resolutions, or goals, I have for each of you:

An Open Letter to Our Fall 2014 Interns

Unpaid internship.

What’s the good in that, right? I mean, if you're going to show up to ‘work’ and put effort into something, you should get something out of it, right? Sure, we cater lunch in and have a fully stocked kitchen with every candy you might desire. And, if you want to come in early or stay late, you could enjoy cable TV (gasp!) or the latest Madden video game in the lounge. But yeah, you’re still not getting paid, and you're only earning course credit for being here. Sorry about your luck.

But did you know sometimes it’s not about the money? Yep, it’s not.

Welcome to Our Fall 2014 Interns!

Welcome to Our Fall 2014 Interns!

Ahhh, fall. One of my favorite times of year. The hot summer days fall into peaceful, crisp fall nights with s’mores cooked on the campfire and plenty of college football. At eZanga, fall also ushers in a few new interns, eager to gain creditable work experience in a field they're grooming themselves for.

Our summer interns have flown the coop, leaving empty desks for a few new faces to grace the eZanga office. They’ll have some big shoes to fill, but we’re confident Steven, Brooke and Caroline, our latest interns, will surely succeed.

I could give Brooke and Caroline the same advice I gave to our summer interns, and while it’s still valid and important, that’s advice for the end of their internship. I have a few more nuggets of knowledge for the beginning, too.

Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart, or the easily stressed and frazzled. It’s a good thing our eZanga parents are used to managing a brood of crazy kids (they have four teenagers!), because they have an office full of kids here at eZanga too.

See, Beth and Rich started eZanga 11 years ago, with the philosophy to work hard, play hard, and eat hard. eZanga’s mom and dad wanted to have an effective but fun work environment. They wanted to leave an impact that would eventually make eZanga a household name.
